In this new immersive light installation Random International continue their exploration of the reflected human form and the physicality of its perception.
A linear array of distinctive fluorescent lights stands within the gallery. As people move through the space, their full-length reflections appear in silhouette. Depending on where a person stands, the resolution of the reflection will vary from abstracted, minimal forms to an almost mirror image.
The installation experiments with perspective and perception. Through the viewer’s physical position in space, it explores how much information is necessary for self-recognition made manifest in light and shadow. The human body is united with the entire surrounding space, in one spectral, sensory experience.
